She Travels with Me
From: Doug Polk (dtpolk@outrageous.net) Story type: Ghost Location: California Source: Form Submission
Many years ago a close female friend died. She was an exciting person involved in music, story telling, and to a lesser degree, the occult. I am not aware if her interest in the latter has anything to do with what followed her death, but I have had little interest in the occult, and bring it up only because she once told me that she was sure she would still be around even after dying. It seems she was right. I have lived alone for most of my life (past marriages over and done with), except for two old cats. When the haunting first began, I was sitting on the side of my bed reading, when I felt the same shake you feel when a cat or dog jumps up on the bed beside you. I turned to push the cat off the bad....no cat! No cat even in the room! This has been the most dominant feature of the haunting, and has included tapping or nudging of the bed, chair, door, mirror, pencle, or whatever I'm using at the time. It can occure at any time of the day, though is more active at night. It is almost a daily occurance, though there are sometimes lapses of several months. I originally thought it had something to do with the old house I was living in, but when I first moved after things started, I realized that she travels with me. She has followed me to each new home since. I have often watched the cats suddenly freeze, their heads following her around the room. Do they actually see her? I never have, although I have seen unexplainable shadows in the rooms.
These incidents are not frightening! She is not violent. Not yet
anyway, although she has a tendacy to toss things now and then, and
will move a lot of small things around while I sleep. At first, I
believed it was all in an attempt to get my attention. No problem
there! But in my attempts to make contact (I have left paper and pen in
plain view and asked her to communicate-she simply moved them) there
has been no response. I have no idea how this will resolve, but find it
quite interesting.
