This is a storie my mother told me when I was young. I hope you will enjoy it.

There was a small girl named Sophie whos mother and father would scream at each other every night. The father would beat the mother every day and he would beat Sophie too. Sophie found that if she hide behind the couch she would be safe from a beating. Then one night a terrible thing happened the father shot the mother and then feeling guilty or selfish he shot himself. All of this happen in front of Sophie while she hide behind the couch. When police cames it took the no more then ten minutes to realize what the child had been through and tried to be supportive. But Sophie was in a daze. She wouldn't speak to anyone. She soon went into foster care and the family fell in love with her right away. Sophie openly loved them back.....it was what she had been wishing for ever since she could remember, but she still did not speak. They decided she needed time and lots of love. Then after the family decided to adopt Sophie they took her to church hoping that she would relize they weren't the only ones who loved her. The first day in Sunday school Sophie stood looking at a picture of Jesus for a long time...the teacher came over and asked if Sophie knew who it was. Sophie responce is the biggest tickle in the heart...."Yes he is the man who held me the night my parents died."
