Follow Up to the Old Farmhouse Story

I had forgot to mention in my story I submitted a few weeks ago that one night a couple of years ago around 3am I was woken up by the most horrible screeching sound I could possibly ever hear. The sound started out in the distance from what sounded like the other end of the road which was about a half mile up, as the sound grew closer I had to literally cover my ears because the sound was so loud. Now I lived a distance off the road up a long driveway and the sound was that loud. It woke up the whole house. when the noise reached where it seemed like right at the front door it lasted a few seconds and then it faded away like it was moving up the road. The next day we talked to some of the neighbors and asked them if they had heard it, to our surprise they said they didn't hear anything. These neighbors by the way lived right in front of the road, their houses may be about 30 feet off the road. I can understand sound sleepers but there was absolutely no way someone whould have slept through this, it literally felt like it was going to shatter my ear drums, my mom, dad and fiance all had to hold their ears from this noise. I have no idea what it was and we never heard it again after that, I do know that I was so scared I could not move.
